Can you eat coyotes

What about you? Would you be willing to try coyote? What about roadkill? Leave a note in the comments below. I would definitely try coyote, or roadkill. Depending on what creature. My concern would be the judgment of the person who prepared the animal. Things like dead too long, insect contamination, predator contamination ect. I have been told that some animals are not good to eat when roadkill due to the processes that take place in the body when killed by a speeding vehicle. Not dangerous just not good.

I do not know if this is true. Roadkill could be a source of perfectly good free food. Here is my only qualm …How long as the carcass been laying there? Not to mention if it near a populated area, what has that dog been eating? But if it was far enough out in the sticks and obviously fresh then I am more comfortable with the idea….

You know how people worry about antibiotics and steroids in store bought meat? Good points all around. The flesh of a coyote has a slightly similar taste to that of a dog. This finding is not from me, but from a few hunters who have had the opportunity of tasting both species. If you have been in the wild long enough, then you know that coyote prey on calves. According to Wikipedia, they currently hold the largest percentage of calf kills in the past decade.

It then brings us to our argument that killing them helps increase the calf population. I partake in coyote hunting during the offseason, and my primary motivation is that I am making it a better place for calves. Note that these calves are the same ones that will mature in a few weeks and be worth taking down. You probably know that the killing and skinning of coyotes could act as a source of income.

From my experience, its behavior replicates that of the stock trade market, where the stocks may rise or fall. Just like any other game, coyote hunting too requires you to get a hunting license. Though not as much as deer or elk, federal governments still collect revenue from the issuance of coyote tags and licenses.

The advantages of killing these sneaky animals overwhelm its disadvantages and make it right to me. Since hunters use pellets instead of bullets, I believe it will be safer to stick to guns. The shells are smaller and much more effective and cause less damage to their skin, hence maintaining its value. Skip to content Contents hide.

Does Coyote Taste Like Dog? It goes well with spicy sauces. I like what you said about eating what you kill. He grew up in a small village on a Greek island, and when he was a kid, this was exactly how you got your food. Hunting, fishing, farming, harvesting; respecting nature by only taking what you need to nourish your family. The 1st one went to tacos. Tasty stuff, it really is good meat. Also what a great way to keep your marksmanship skills up during the off season.

No more depressing lulls between Deer and bear! Coyotes are not unique to America. If he meant the United States he would have said so. Thank goodness I am a Jew and observe the kosher laws. Coyotes are not kosher. Plus, coyotes will kill and eat anything. I never would have tried AZ mountain lion until a few years back-now I get an over the counter tag every year. Just like this coyote marinade works best but I had this lion barbecued marinated in italian salad oil dressing and it was great.

Looked a lot like and tasted like pork. Suppose I will try the coyote also if it is offered. By golly you never know-would never have known lion was so good. I have a theory that our aversion to eating other meat-eating animals is more instinctual rather than cultural. Outside of aquatic lifeforms and invertebrates, nearly all predators avoid eating other strictly carnivores or scavengers.

That holds true for just about anything that walks, crawls, or flies with the exception being dedicated scavengers like vultures, jackals, hyenas and excludes aquatic life as a whole. When people eat carnivore meat usually cats, large and small it is usually out of desperation or ritualistic. The more likely an omnivore is to eat meat the less likely it is to be hunted and eaten.

I am interested in this comment. Do you mean to say that it is for protection? The more likely an omnivore goes out to hunt the greater the risk something could eat it? The thought of eating canine turns my stomach, I will have nightmares for weeks now. No, eating what you shoot does NOT include predators or vermin.
