It was also noted for its boundary-pushing crude humor, some of which were subtle and some that really weren't. This led to certain sections of episodes being censored or segments like "Leap Frogs" being pulled entirely from repeat viewings. Rocko's Modern Life came to an end in after four seasons, though the final season is generally considered the weakest. Only classmate Dib Membrane recognizes Zim for the alien he is, and fails repeatedly to convince anyone else of the threat that Zim theoretically poses.
Incompetence usually saves the day. And he 's doing stretches! With some adult references thrown in as well that are rather shocking for a Nick show.
The animal humor Heffer is a steer, not a cow. Rocko is a wallby, not a rabbit is used in many kooky and hilarious ways.
And although sometimes they can seem stupid, lines are repeated from episode to episode. And every now and then these lines are given a degree twist of humor.
While the mucas jokes could be settled down, the humor isn't very slapstick and is cartoonish witty humor at its best. Sure it's offbeat, innappropite and as I said is more of an adult show then a kids show humor wise, not content wise it's still very funny.
And when the show isn't funny it shines with charm. The characters are very easy to get behind and it flows like a sitcom. It has its dud episodes with good jokes wrapped into a bad plot, but overall the show is very charming. The characters have their own catch phrases and traditions which all give twists. Even when the show has run out of twists they add even more to thrill the viewing audiance into laughter. Rockos Modern Life is an excellent example of the beginning of the adult cartoon era.
Sure The Simpsons helped much. But Rocko wasn't a stupid move. It shouldn't have gone on any other network. It was a bold move by Nickoloden and the shows director Joe Murray.

Rocko finds Ed in his now-demolished house and the two discuss their shared fear and resistance to change.
Rocko then receives a phone call from Heffer and Fliburt, informing him that the Fatheads special is complete and about to air. Rocko drags Ed to the premiere and the two begin to watch, only to discover that Rachel has added a new character to the show: a baby Fathead.
Everyone but Rocko loves the new character, leading the special to make billions of dollars, and Ed, seeing the influence of their family life in the special, reconciles with Rachel. Rocko angrily states his disapproval of the special, believing it to be too different from the original Fatheads , but Ed convinces him that change is a part of life and should be embraced, which Rocko then accepts.
The rocket that launched Rocko's house suddenly crashes into the Conglom-O building, launching it and Mr. Dupette into space, and the money earned rains down on the crowd, saving the town.
